The Cold Moon also referred to as the Long Nights Moon because it occurs near the winter solstice, the day with the least amount of daylight. During December, the winter nights are at their longest with the full moon at a high trajectory across the sky opposite of the low Sun. With the nights growing colder many of us are trying to stay warm with the threat of snow in the sky.
This time of year we’re all feeling a bit slower and generally off kilter as our bodies adjust to the new temperatures. We gravitate to staying in and watching Netflix, eating comfort foods. It can seem like a hassle to make any magical effort when it’s cold and gloomy outside, but it’s actually the perfect time for some protection magic!

Take time to work on magic related to both physical and spiritual protection. Use these cool nights to develop your inner self, and advance yourself spiritually. Take time in the hustle of the holidays to meditate and think about what it is you really want to accomplish in the coming year.
Winter is a perfect season for simplification and organization. Set aside everything you don’t need, and try a minimalist approach. On a physical level this can mean donating old clothing, clearing out your space and just tidying up your home. On a spiritual level teach your mind to let go of the things that are creating excess baggage for your spirit.
